Jeff Giddens is a partner of Performance Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine and works at the Rome office. Jeff started his undergraduate work at the University of the Cumberlands (formerly Cumberland College) where he played collegiate NAIA football. Jeff then transferred to complete his undergraduate training at the University of Georgia where he graduated, cum laude, receiving his Bachelors of Science in Education in Exercise and Sports Science. Jeff received his Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed a clinical internship in orthopedics at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. Jeff also is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Jeff previously worked as a physical therapist in a privately owned and operated physical therapy clinic specializing in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation. Jeff left that company in 2008 as the regional director of physical therapy, overseeing the operations of seven outpatient physical therapy clinics, to pursue the start up of Performance Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine in LaFayette, Georgia in 2009.
Jeff has over 19 years of rehabilitation experience and performs sports rehabilitation, spine rehabilitation, pre and post surgery rehabilitation, and geriatric rehabilitation focusing on vestibular training.
Jeff is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Physical Therapy Association of Georgia, and National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Michael Trammell
Partner, PTA
Michael Trammell is a partner of Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine and works at both the LaFayette and Rome offices. Michael completed his associates degree in the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Floyd Junior College.
Michael previously worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a privately owned and operated physical therapy clinic specializing in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation. Michael left that company in 2007 to work as an account executive for a national home health company until 2009. He then left to pursue the creation of Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in LaFayette, Georgia.
Michael has over 11 years of rehabilitation experience and specializes in total joint replacements and various shoulder and knee post surgical conditions. Michael is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Physical Therapy Association of Georgia, and is a certified provider of Sports Metrics. Sports Metrics is an evidence based program targeted at decreasing the rate of ACL injuries in females.
Michael and his wife Amanda have two sons.
Scott Abston

Scott Abston is a Physical Therapist Assistant at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in Rome, GA. He grew up in Rome and graduated from Armuchee High School. He is married to Trisha Abston and has two children, a boy and a girl. He received his Associates of Applied Science Degree in Physical Therapy in 2010 from Chattahoochee Technical College where he received the Clinical Excellence Award for his outstanding performance in the clinical setting. He has practiced therapy in multiple settings in his career including post-acute rehab, home health, and outpatient sports medicine.
Scott has been a USA Weightlifting Level 1 coach and enjoys coaching and participating in Olympic weightlifting. His other hobbies include snowboarding, mountain biking, and Crossfit. He is an active member at Three Rivers Community Church. Scott incorporates his knowledge of sports medicine and fitness to help individuals maximize their function throughout the rehab process. He strives to help his patients exceed their own expectations for recovery and return to active lifestyles.
Matt Herod

Matt Herod is a physical therapist assistant at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in Rome. After graduating from Adairsville High School in 2008, he then attended Shorter University where he played NAIA and Division II baseball and football. Matt graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Business Administration in 2012. In the fall of 2013, he started his associate of Applied Science at Chattahoochee Technical College.
He began practicing at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in 2016 after his clinical rotation and graduation from Chattahoochee Tech. Creating personal relationships while helping patients overcome injury are what drive him in this profession.
Matt lives in Adairsville where he’s a member of his local church’s worship band. He’s happily married to his wife, Kesley, of three years.

Thomas Moss is a physical therapist at Performance Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine in Rome. Thomas graduated from Shorter University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in biology. From Shorter, he attended The University of St. Augustine School for Health Sciences in St. Augustine Florida where he graduated with high honors to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. While in school Thomas received advanced training in the evaluation and treatment of the spine as well as manual therapy techniques. Thomas currently lives in Rome with his wife.

Carly Penhollow is a Physical Therapist at Performance Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine in Rome. She is originally from Western NY but has found her home in Rome, GA. Carly graduated Summa Cum Laude from Alfred University with a bachelor’s in science in Athletic Training. She then graduated in 2015 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. Carly has worked in the Outpatient Physical Therapy setting for 7 years. Matt Gregory, PT, DPT, OCS, ATC, CSCS is a physical therapist and athletic trainer at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in LaFayette, GA. Matt is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist. Matt is the clinic director for the LaFayette clinic. Matt also provides coverage through Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine as an athletic trainer for local sports teams. Matt graduated from LaFayette High School in 2004 and continued his education at the University of Georgia (UGA). While at UGA, Matt enrolled in the Athletic Training Education Program. During this time he worked as a student athletic trainer with the Georgia Bulldogs football, baseball, track and field, and women’s tennis teams. Additionally, Matt completed an athletic training internship in the summer of 2007 with the Indianapolis Colts. Matt graduated from UGA in 2008 with the degree Bachelor of Science in Education in Exercise and Sports Science and became a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. In 2011 Matt received the degree Doctor of Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia. Matt is also a Certified Strength and Condition Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Matt is on the advisory board of the Chattanooga State Physical Therapy Assistant program. Matt is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the Georgia Athletic Trainers Association.
Matt has advanced training in dry needling and is also LSVT Big Certified for the treatment of Parkinson Disease.
Matt’s wife Jessica is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Rock Spring Elementary School in LaFayette, GA. Matt and Jessica have two children, Tate and Cora.
Jensen Wages

Jensen Wages, PT, DPT is a physical therapist at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in LaFayette, GA. Jensen is from Ringgold, GA and graduated from Ringgold High School. Jensen attended Kennesaw State University (KSU) where she competed as a Division I athlete with the KSU Women’s Softball team. Jensen graduated from KSU with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health Science. She continued her education at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) in the Physical Therapy program obtaining the degree Doctor of Physical Therapy. While at UTC, Jensen participated in clinical internships at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, Gordon Hospital, Floyd Medical Center in orthopedic, acute care, and inpatient settings. Jensen also participated in research investigating the effects hip strength, mechanics and alignment in ACL recovery and re-injury rate.
Jensen also has advanced training in dry needling.
Jensen and her husband, Chris, have a son named Sawyer and a daughter named Andi. They enjoy spending time with family and with their beloved dog, Otis.
Allison Skidmore

Allison Skidmore, PTA, is a physical therapist assistant at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in LaFayette, GA. Allison is from Chickamauga, GA and graduated from Gordon Lee High School in 2011. She attended Kennesaw State University and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She then continued her education in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Chattanooga State and graduated in May of 2017. While in the PTA program, Allison completed clinical rotations in local acute care, inpatient, and orthopedic settings.
Allison is also LSVT Big Certified for the treatment of Parkinson Disease.
Allison currently lives in Chattanooga. During her free time she enjoys hiking, going to concerts, and spending time with her dog Hudson.
Holli Guthrie

Holli Guthrie, PT, DPT is a physical therapist at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in LaFayette, GA. Holli is from Chickamauga, GA and graduated from Gordon Lee High School in 2011. Holli continued her education at Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL State where she competed as a two sport NAIA athlete with Faulkner Women’s Basketball team and Softball team. Holli graduated from Faulkner in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management. She continued her education at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) in the Physical Therapy program obtaining the degree Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2021. While at UTC, Holli participated in clinical internships at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in Lafayette, Parkridge Hospital, NHC, and C4 sports rehabilitation. Holli also participated in research in the Reliability and Validity of a Novel Change of Direction Test for Volleyball Players.
Holli is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Holli and her husband, Josh, have a son named Leo. They enjoy spending time with family and friends. They also enjoy all sports/games with some of their favorites being spikeball, pick up basketball, volleyball and slow pitch softball

Andrea Hammon, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in Lafayette, Ga. Andrea is from Ringgold, Ga and graduated from Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School in 2011. She began the PTA program in August of 2020 at Chattanooga State Community College and graduated summa cum laude, earning an Associate of Applied Science in May of 2022. During her education she had clinical internships in a variety of settings including home health, acute care, skilled nursing, and outpatient orthopedics. She is a newlywed marrying the love of her life, Drew, in June of this year. She has two beautiful daughters, two precious bonus sons, and an adorable beagle named Fergus. She enjoys spending time outdoors, going to concerts, and having adventures with her family and friends. Andrea strives to make rehabilitation a positive, enjoyable, and successful experience for all of her patients.

Skye Goresh, PTA, is a physical therapist assistant at Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in LaFayette, GA. Skye is from Whitestown, IN and graduated from Berry College in 2006 with a B.A. in Studio Art. Through the course of time and various professional experiences, she opted to pursue a life long passion of helping people recover from injury and restore independence which began in her formative undergraduate years as a student athletic trainer at Berry College. Skye was accepted into the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Chattanooga State and graduated at the top of her class in May of 2018. While in the PTA program, Skye completed clinical rotations in local acute care, inpatient, and orthopedic settings. She is driven to provide the best possible experience in the clinic for each individual coming under her care. Skye is a certified LSVT BIG clinician and has been trained to work with individuals desiring to halt and reverse the effects of Parkinson’s Disease.

Kristin Scoggins PT, DPT, Cert. MDT is a physical therapist at Roper Wellness Center under Performance Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine. She received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Union University in 2010 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2013. She has experience in the acute care, skilled nursing, home health and outpatient settings among a variety of patient populations. She is especially interested in the treatment of spinal pain/disorders and chronic pain. She is certified in Integrative Dry Needling which is a systematic approach to pain relief and in the LSVT BIG program for Parkinson’s disease. She certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) by the McKenzie Institute International. This method is highly effective in the speedy recover of spine and extremity injuries. It focuses on active patient involvement by giving them the knowledge of self-care for rapid recovery and prevention. She is also passionate about a holistic, individualized approach to patient care including the role of nutrition and exercise in optimal movement and recovery.
Kristin is from west Tennessee but is enjoying making Georgia her new home. She and her husband, Daniel, live in Ringgold. They enjoy good music and anything outdoors.
Natalie Welch

Natalie Welch, PTA is a physical therapist assistant who graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University where she obtained a Bachelor’s of Art degree in Exercises Studies with a minor in Physical Science and graduated Cum Laude in 2018. She was a two sport NAIA athlete playing 4 years of basketball and softball for the Lady Cougars. She then went on to further her education at Zane State College where she became a licensed PTA in 2021. She has previous experience in outpatient, acute care and sports medicine settings where she was able to widen her skills. Natalie enjoys helping individuals return to a healthy pain free life and building connections with the people she works with. Natalie is working on her Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) training by the McKenzie Institute International.
Natalie was born and raised around Columbus, Ohio and moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee in the Spring of 2022 with her husband Kaden and their two dogs Palmer and Henry. Natalie does a lot of hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, enjoys many forms of physical activity, attends a lot of Tennessee Titans games, cheers on The Ohio State Buckeyes and loves on her dogs!

Jennifer Copple, PTA is a licensed physical therapist assistant who graduated from Chattanooga State Community College in 2015. She has previous experience in inpatient and skilled nursing settings where she was able help people return to their activities of daily living and improve their quality of life. Jennifer is working on her Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) training by the McKenzie Institute International. Jennifer was born and raised in Wisconsin. She moved to Georgia in 2008 for hang gliding and decided to pursue a career in physical therapy. She likes to spend her free time with her family, cooking delicious food, hang gliding, and taking walks on the local hiking trails.
